From the concept to the company
In the beginning
- In 1976, engineers from different specialist fields founded a joint office in Munich. As well as consulting civil engineers, these included four electronics engineers who specialised in contract development.
- In 1977, the DOLI Generalübernehmer für Bauten und technische Anlagen (DOLI General Contractor for Buildings and Technical Installations) was entered in the commercial register.
- In 1980, the company became DOLI Elektronik GmbH. The name DOLI came about rather by chance at the pub. But it fit perfectly, because it can also be read as “Data Online” – reflecting, even then, the company’s focus on digital technology.

Right from the start, developing innovative electronic solutions has been at the heart of what we do. DOLI is a pioneer in digital technology for industrial applications – particularly in the fields of high-resolution measurement systems, control algorithms and machine control technology.
Projects cover numerous industries, including weighing technology, force and displacement measurement, programming technology and medical technology. However, over time a clear specialisation developed: industrial materials testing technology.
From ELRAM systems to the EDCi family
Continuous innovation through the generations
Milestones in research and development
- 1980s
The first ELRAM 2000 and ELRAM 3000 control systems are developed.
- 1987
The PCTF series with PCBs is launched and a high-resolution digital closed-loop controller is successfully introduced throughout Europe as an OEM product.
- 1989
We acquire the European market leader for materials testing machines as an OEM customer.
- 1992
First generation of EDC controllers EDC5, EDC25, EDC100.
- 1995
We successfully enter the Chinese market with the EDC100 series.
- 2002–2007
Second- and third-generation EDC controllers are launched, including the EDC60, EDC120, EDC220 and EDC580. Standalone versions are also added.
- 2008
Special firmware is developed for creep tests in multi-axis systems.
- 2011
Launch of the fourth generation: EDC220V and EDC580V.
- 2015–2019
The fifth generation (EDCi series) is developed. DOLI launches its fifth generation of EDCi controllers on the market, consisting of both tabletop and built-in devices: the EDCi10, EDCi15, EDCi2x, EDC5x and EDCi7x. With this series, we respond directly to customers’ wishes, incorporate new technologies and continually perfect our products.
- 2028 (planned):
Introduction of the sixth generation of EDC controllers.
International expansion
From Europe to China – and the world.
Up until 1994, Europe was the focus of our sales. In 1995, we entered the Chinese market – with great success. Within just a few years, DOLI had established itself there as a well-known partner for materials testing technology.

New leadership, new momentum
With Rainer Bader at the helm, DOLI is embarking on an innovative future.
2016
The company is sold after decades of management by the original partners.
2019
We relocate our headquarters from Munich to Münsingen.
2023– a year of change.

- Production: Modern, user-friendly EPA workplaces with height-adjustable desks and flexible workspaces ensure efficient processes, short distances and greater comfort – combining innovation with healthy working.
New ESD protective clothing prevents employees’ clothing from being a potential hazard and therefore protects sensitive electronic components – an important step to ensure safe and reliable processes, high quality and lasting protection. - Development: A specialist team gets new technologies market-ready faster and more efficiently.
- Sales: With well-founded market analyses, intensified sales activities and long-term partnerships, DOLI is systematically expanding its international customer relationships and strengthening its presence in key foreign markets.
